Nelson Jiajie Meng is a PhD student in Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Kentucky, where he focuses on the history of medicine and technology and Sinophone studies. Previously, he completed his Master of Arts (by Research) in Chinese at Nanyang Technological University. His MA thesis explored the cultural construction of venereal diseases in the Republic of China and the impact of technology on gender and sexuality. He has also gained experience as a research assistant and teaching assistant at Nanyang Technological University.

Outside of academia, Meng has also published over 100,000 words of science fiction. His literary works primarily explore various possibilities within human society and intimate relationships, while contemplating the (im)possibilities of emotional narratives among contemporary urban residents in China.

Passionate about the affirmation and representation of sexual minorities on social media platforms, particularly focusing on Asian and Chinese communities, Meng aims to contribute to the popularization of gender studies and the history of science research for the general public. He aspires to bridge the language barrier by making this knowledge accessible to those who cannot read English literature. In this way, he hopes to improve the living conditions and opportunities for LGBTQ individuals.
