Israt Eshita Haque

Graduate Teaching Assistant

Israt Eshita Haque (she/her) is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Gender and Women’s Studies at the University of Kentucky. Her research broadly examines gender stereotypes, gender-based violence, migration and immigration, and judicial accountability, with particular attention to intimate and sexual violence cases, transformations in family and intimate relationships, and the pursuit of gender equity in South Asian and transnational contexts.

Before beginning her doctoral studies, Eshita served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Bangladesh. Her teaching and research experience in Bangladesh strongly informs her current scholarly focus on the intersections of gender, law, family, and social inequality.

Eshita’s ongoing research engages feminist theory to explore how gender norms and stereotypes shape women’s access to justice and social equity, institutional practices, and everyday lived experiences.
